Well its that time of year again and the hens (well Alice in particular) have been eating the elderberries.Amazingly enough the first egg laid today was covered in purple speckles! Wonder if it tastes of elderberries too!
We have been told by a reliable source that the elderberrry has the highest levels of vitamins of any fruit/ tree.
Just hope Alice, Gerry, Thelma and Louise apperciate all the good nutrients they are getting!

Mmmm. These look delicious! Is there any nutritional value in eggs that have a darker yolk versus a lighter yolk? I notice that the eggs I buy from America and Danemark are light, while the eggs here in Italy are dark. I enjoy the darker yolks, but I'm curious if it matters?
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures!!

Thanks for your comment Barbara - I'm not sure about the nutritional value, but we feel dark yolks always 'seem' more nutritious. Will have to find out and let you know.
ReplyDeleteJust love the way the hens lay different eggs depending on what they have been eating!
